Annoying person ruined my birthday?

there is this friend of mine (well i call him friend because we go to high school together and share the same friends). his extremely arrogant.last month i invited him with my other friends to dinner for my 17th birthday at an Italian pizzeria in the city (from new jersey). its not the best but it was ok. i also paid for food. however the whole night was destroyed by this "friend", who kept on complaining about everything the whole night. before we started he was already complaining, it ended up being akward and i didnt want to tell him off during dinner hoping he would hav the respect to realise it wasn't about him. he was too loud and really annoyed me. we went back to school and he went basically telling people (even with me around) that my dinner was terrible. he didnt have the decency to say that behind my back. what angers me is the fact that he destroyed the night and then goes around saying it was terrible. now i feel i should have told him off that night and i regret that, now i feel its too late to bring that up again and it really angers me how he destroyed a special night for me. i wouldnt do that on his birthday.....im just angry
